ETHOS curates and packs Science Kits to support educators teach STEM in their classrooms.
“Science is awesome!” Children love science. Getting their hands dirty, and exploring how things work is essential to their healthy mental development. Capturing that initial spark and enthusiasm is one of our goals at the ETHOS Innovation Center. We invest in and investigate ways to meet our mission to children of all ages, regardless of demographics (such as race, ethnicity, gender, income level, or learning ability).
At ETHOS, we know science instruction and work towards our mission, so that no student experiences a passive year with little or no science. In fact, we want to ensure students experience wonder and discovery every year, in every grade, and in every school. Our children are our future. How bright is the future when every child can think critically and find wonder in the world around them. |
What is a Science Kit?
A hands-on science learning program or a “kit” is part of an educational system to help students engage and learn about the science in the world around them.
To teach science as an engagement, teachers need materials and curriculum. In a science kit is everything a teacher needs to engage students through a science unit over multiple weeks. Some of the materials are very generic – helping students realize they can engage in science anywhere and everywhere with what is around them. Some of the materials are specific, to help ease the facilitation of the science investigation in a timely and effective way. Similarly, some of the materials will be used up in an investigation and some parts reused over and over again. The curriculum with the kit has been developed by expert teachers, to maximize impact at grade level, as well as hit the standards, so students are able to learn year-by-year in a science progression, building a body of knowledge, understanding, and investigation tools which they can communicate effectively to others.
Kits also come with professional training for teachers – at the forefront of good kit implementation, and continually, to support the teachers!
We love the creativity of our teachers. Being a creative and dynamic teacher can be expensive! When considering all the funds teachers pay out of their own pockets, science instruction can be especially taxing! By providing science materials for teachers, we ensure all of our students are provided the best in resources without potential fund limits curbing their explorations.

What's inside a Science Kit?
Our staff is made up of esteemed and highly educated science teachers. We value the recognition of our peers and professional communities as positive feedback to help drive smart decisions to impact our students. This communication has driven our choices for current and future science materials.
For our science kits, we have many esteemed sources for the core materials, including: The Smithsonian STC Elementary Curriculum
Full Option Science System (FOSS) by Delta Education developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science
Science Education for Public Understanding Program (SEPUP)
Sea Research Foundation

We work to modify and ensure our kit offerings (and all of our activities at ETHOS) help teachers, STEM workers, and parents meet NGSS and State standards.
As the costs of educational material development rise, the ETHOS Innovation Center works with school districts and our national STEM partners to deliver the best product at the most reasonable costs we can afford without compromising instruction. ETHOS is a non-profit, our funds are directed to our mission of engaging every child with STEM in their annual curriculum.
