ETHOS is a science education center that provides meaningful programming to thousands of students and educators across the region every year. The center is a product of the region’s need for and commitment to STEM education, and enjoys strong support from the public and private sectors.
ETHOS was founded in 2001 by a former Bayer Corporation research scientist and a dedicated former Elkhart Schools administrator in order to provide students across the region with the benefits of access to a strong science education. ETHOS is based on the Smithsonian Science Education Center STEM education model and consistently meets and exceeds national standards.
In 1998, ETHOS opened its new Innovation Center in Elkhart. $1.5 million remains to be raised for the $8 million state-of-the-art innovation center. ETHOS and its onsite innovation partners, provide a lifecycle of STEM education and career advancement opportunities for the region. Plans are underway to aggressively expand STEM education in up to 454 schools located in Elkhart, St. Joseph, Marshall, Kosciusko, Berrien and Cass counties.
