Helping Children Learn Science, Helping Children Love Science
Mission Statement
To provide children with opportunities to connect science to everyday life through problem-solving, discovery and critical thinking.
Overview
ETHOS Innovation Center’s Curriculum is designed to help classroom teachers and their students meet and exceed the benchmarks set by national standardized tests. What makes ETHOS truly revolutionary is the way its curriculum focuses directly on what students need to know to meet those standards. Its professional development empowers teachers, providing the techniques and tools that turn science lessons into tangible, exciting concepts that students can touch, see, inquire about, and understand.
ETHOS Innovation Center helps children and adults engage with science and technology through hands-on programs. We offer opportunities to connect science to everyday life through problem-solving, discovery and critical thinking. We help classroom teachers and their students exceed benchmarks set by national standardized tests. Our professional development curriculum empowers teachers with techniques and tools that turn lessons into tangible, exciting concepts that students can touch, see, inquire about, and understand.
Culture
ETHOS Innovation Center continues to grow, becoming a well recognized science education resource center for the Michiana community. For students, for teachers, for educators- ETHOS provides many opportunities to learn and grow. You can be part of the team! ETHOS is always looking for patrons who want to contribute to our mission.
Programming
Programming directly for students includes science camps during Summer, Spring Break and Fall Break; after-school programming and field trips; Science2Go Bus visits (our Bus was the result of a collaboration of enthusiastic local RV manufacturers); plus ETHOS Academy and community events.

Robotics
Reaching students in K-12, robotics programs allow participants to take inquiry to a whole new level in which they use problem-solving skills to find solutions to real-world challenges. Students also display a set of Core Values that instill the want to support other students and teams within the program as they learn 21st Century Skills. |
Community Outreach
Impacting the Community is one of our focuses. Having events that allow the public to share common interests within the world of STEM, STEAM and beyond. The community has invested in ETHOS, so ETHOS could invest in you. That investment inspires our community and future generations. |
Academic Support and Inquiry
Designed for teachers K-12, Inquiry is an approach to learning that involves exploring the natural or material world in a way that leads to asking questions, making observations, planning investigations, rigorously testing, and discussing results with others all to come to a deeper understanding of scientific phenomena and practices. |
Science Academy and Programs
For our youth. ETHOS Science Academy Sessions are made up of four workshops each, allowing students to experience, investigate and discover scientific principles and processes. Programs vary from “Crime Scene Investigation” to dinosaur fossils and rockets, food chemistry and LEGO robotics! |
Our Dedication to STEM
ETHOS’s core business is to manage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) materials for regional schools and to provide in-depth training for their teachers in the STEM area. Every year over 100 teachers take advantage of ETHOS’ nationally recognized training center. Working in collaboration with area schools, ETHOS pursues and manages grants that support STEM education.
Additionally, our Science Center’s curriculum is designed to help classroom teachers and their students meet and exceed national standardized tests’ benchmarks. They focus on what their students — of all ages and grades — need to know. Our curriculum also adheres to the Smithsonian Science Center’s elements of successful science educational reform — from research through community and administrative support.
