Elkhart's Free to be inducted in hall of fame

ELKHART -- Helen M. Free is headed for induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame, along with 10 other notable females.

An Elkhart chemist, Free is best known for conducting research that revolutionized diagnostic testing in the lab and at home, especially for diabetes patients.

Formal induction into the hall will be Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Seneca Falls, N.Y.
